Hey there young Jake!
As Chris wrote, we are heading out to ski tomorrow (way too early), and it's a little weird to be going without you. I have decided to make it a relaxing vacation, with reading, yoga and snowshoeing instead of the big schlep of skiing.
I've been thinking about writing for many days now, but life has been quite busy leading up to vacation!
Today is the 20th anniversary of my going into labor to bring you here...it only took two and a half days to happen! So - I start celebrating now.
I can't tell you how proud I am (and Dad too) about what you're doing and how well it's going. We were beyond excited to get those letters from you!!
We, of course, have been watching the Olympics the last 2 weeks. Some of the snowboard dudes really reminded me of you. They all seemed happy and supportive of each other the way you and your skater friends are. When we watch the ice skaters, I always remember that ski vacation in Vermont (2002, I believe) when you and Sarah were downstairs laughing your asses off at the outfits on the skaters.
I have some pictures I've been wanting to share with you so you won't feel you've missed too much while you're gone.
The first was Nica in her coat and booties - but that's already in the first post...
Here's a snowstorm - one of several that you had the foresight to miss:
Here's Nica chilling on your bed - I think she likes to go into your room and be near your scent:
On one of the snow days - I canceled a whole day of work in Port. I decided to make the GF Banana bread recipe, so I could eat it and think about you:
And here's Nica in Boston, looking stylish in her coat. I'm so glad you still want to go there with me when you get back...Martha, Peter and David are doing pretty well considering, and I know that they will really enjoy seeing you and hearing about your travels:
Anyway, that's about it for now. I will write more from Colorado.
We will raise a big glass of wine, beer or whatever to you on Monday night. Happy happy 20th, my love!!
xoxoxoxox, Mom
